Walking tour to feature treasured landmarks
On Sunday afternoon, September 19, downtown Montgomery will celebrate both old and new with an open house and walking tour of historic buildings along Cooper Road. From 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., participants will gather at the newly refurbished Neuilly Plaisance Plaza on the corner of Cooper and Montgomery to sign in and collect a map, then set off on their own to visit seven distinctive Montgomery Landmarks, including the three oldest buildings in the City. “Get your motor running and head out to the car show!” Join us for great family fun with cars from the 20’s to the 80’s, trucks and motorcycles. City to Conduct Fall Curbside Brush Pickup
The Montgomery Service Department will again be providing a fall curbside bulk brush collection of brush and limbs. The fall program is scheduled to begin on September 20, 2010 and will be conducted over a 5 week period. Your pick up week will be determined by your regular trash collection schedule. Please have your brush out at the curb by Monday morning of your collection week.
- Monday trash day, your pick up week will be the week of September 20
- Tuesday trash day, your week will be the week of September 27
- Wednesday trash day,your pick up week will be the week of October 4
- Thursday trash day, your pick up week will be the week of October 11
- Friday trash day, your pick up week will be the week of October 18

Plastic flower pot drop-off continues
Due to the positive response of the spring recycling project, opportunities will be available this fall for plastic flower pot recycling. They may be dropped off at the September 25 Plant Swap in the City Hall Parking Lot and/or at the Public Works Building, 7315 Cornell Road, on Saturdays, September 18 and October 16, during the monthly Cardboard Recycling Project from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Plastic pots (any size or color), cell packs and plant trays are all accepted and will be transported to the BZAK Landscaping and Maintenance Company.
September’s Open City Hall Topic: Should texting and/or talking on a cell phone while driving be regulated? If so, how?
Cell phones are a convenience. Many people manage their lives through these little devices. Should laws limit use of cell phones while driving? Many states are scrambling to pass legislation that bans talking and texting on cell phones while driving. Should either or both of these practices be regulated? What is your opinion?
