This two-story frame house was built by John Snider, fourth son of Cornelius Snider, who was one of the founders of Montgomery. John Snider was trustee and clerk of the Montgomery Universalist Church, a Justice of the Peace, and a General in the Hamilton County Militia during the Mexican War. John Snider’s son, Richard, married Ella Crain who was born in the house in 1860. For over a century, the Snider and Crain families were owners and occupants of this landmark.
