Snider House (c.1817)
Located at 7789 Cooper Road
National Register Building
This frame saltbox was first owned and occupied by Cornelius Snider, one of the original founders of Montgomery. Along with other townsmen, he established a grist mill which stood at the southwest corner of Main and Cooper Roads. The saltbox style is an unusual example of New England building tradition in southwest Ohio, exhibiting early construction techniques and details used by the settlers. The fact that these structures remain in this community, that has developed so rapidly since 1950, is remarkable.
