Montgomery recycled 977 tons in 2007!
By environmental measures, 2007 was a good year for Montgomery. Residents collectively recycled a total of 977.21 tons of metal, glass, plastic and paper.
The recycling efforts in Montgomery saved the equivalent of 8,654 trees, 42,055 gallons of gasoline, enough energy to power 124 average homes for an entire year, and prevented 811 tons of greenhouse gases (that’s the equivalent to removing 645 cars from the road for a year!).
On average, each household in Montgomery recycled 540 pounds in 2007. That’s a lot of pop cans and newspapers!
Recycling reduces pollution, conserves natural resources, and decreases the amount of waste going to the landfill. Recycling also boosts the local economy by creating 169,000 jobs and $6 billion in annual wages just in the State of Ohio.
Residents are encouraged to join in the recycling effort to further improve Montgomery’s impact on the environment. Don’t have a recycling bin? Simply visit Montgomery City Hall during regular business hours for a free bin.

* remove and discard the lids (and the plastic tip off aerosol cans)
