Resurfacing Program
Mt. Pleasant Blacktopping Company, Inc. continues work on the 2010 annual street resurfacing program which covers 4.37 centerline miles within the City. This work involves repairs and/or replacement of storm pipes, catch basins, and curbing followed by the milling of the existing asphalt pavement and then completed with asphalt resurfacing. This program will continue through the summer months and will be substantially completed by mid September.
Montgomery/Kennedy Lane Pedestrian Crosswalk
Staff is finalizing plans for the installation of a signalized pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of Montgomery Road and Kennedy Lane. The crosswalk would be located on the north side of Kennedy Lane and span across Montgomery Road. The project would also include the removal, replacement, and extension of a concrete sidewalk on the east side of Montgomery Road from the westbound Cross County Highway ramp south to Kennedy Lane and would also include ADA handicap ramps. Work on the project should be substantially completed by the end of August.
Zig Zag Road Drainage
Staff is finalizing plans for the installation of a 12-inch storm pipe across Zig Zag Road just north of Cooper Road to correct a deficient drainage area. The contractor will be required to maintain access for one lane of pavement and alternate traffic flow during the construction period. Work on this project is anticipated to take one week and be completed by the end of August.
